Sorry Lee, Love you, think you re a great guy and you deserve all the success in the world but found this book a bit too long winded considering it only told your story up until you re eighteen The childhood stuff just didn t interest me so it wasn t until the final third of the book that I really got into it.On saying that, I m glad I read it because I enjoyed getting to know Lee Evans The story between him and Heather was truly touching and spoken straight from the heart Some of the experience [...]

This biography did not meet my expectations but actually ended up exceeding them Rather than a chornology of his quite obviously amazing career in comedy this biography is a compliation of childhood and teenage memories documenting the key events, people and breaks that eventually led Lee Evans into the path of showbiz and comedy I absolutely loved the way that Lee Evans writes in this book, so starkly honest but at the same time cracking jokes and keeping the whole thing light I ll be honest th [...]

Lee Evans is one of my favourite comedians Actually, he s my ONLY favourite comedian he s the only stand up comedian I actually watch I can t remember when I started watching him, but I ve watched all of his DVDs, with XL being a particular favourite I watched Road Runner recently, and that was just as good I like his jokes, his brand of humour, the way he sweats A LOT So when I saw he was releasing his autobiography, I was thrilled Although his autobiography is titled The Life of Lee, it should [...]

Lee Evans is without a doubt my favourite comedian and has been since I can remember I enjoy his DVDS and material every much, I watch it probably way than is probably healthy I even had the luck of meeting him a year ago after his Road Runner performance in Nottingham I was over the moon when I heard he was to release a book last christmas and knew it had to be on my christmas list However I was disappointed when The Life of Lee turned out to be nothing than based on his childhood and teenage [...]

Like him or loathe him, Lee Evans is one of the UK s most successful comedians The Life of Lee is his story, from his childhood on a council estate in Bristol to his first ever gig If you ve ever seen Lee Evans perform, you ll know his style and his jokes run throughout the book Although I raised a smile now and again as he recalled his madcap childhood accidents, to his troubled teens and struggling to survive on his own two feet in adulthood, I felt somewhat disappointed You see, he beats hims [...]

Let me start by saying I absolutely love Lee Evans And this book proved him to be a humble, honest and complex man I seem to switch from being bored by a chapter to enthral led by one As my lovely friend, Helen, put it it s an interesting read but a boring one If lee Evans was in front of me telling me the story I would have loved it but it was difficult to read without your mind wandering off Im not sure how much I agree with lee only going up to the age of 18 in this book The most interesting [...]

I love Lee Evans, he s such an amazing comedian, and I was not at all disappointed after listening to the book.I don t usually like listening to audible books, but I think it was better to listen to this book because he did all the ascents to the people he mentions which makes it so much funnier.his life is very fascinating and I didn t expect many of the events he talks about what I found surprising was that he didn t actually want to be a performer, when he s got such a natural way of performi [...]

Well going by the rating I have given this book I have to say it is a really good read At times I found it difficult to put down Saying to myself, right read to the end of this chapter then stop and finding myself reading on.Lee Evans has certainly led quite a life in his younger years, a few things in his personality i could relate to Although I have read a few reviews on here that people are disppointed that it only leads him up to being eighteen I dont find this as much of a problem as it was [...]

This book is an interesting insight into Lee s growing up years and the trials and tribulations of his early life There are some very sad and moving tales of what life was like for his family Without wanting to give anything away Chapters 33 and 34 must have been very difficult for Lee to write. There are a lot of childhood stories and some other reviewers have criticised this, but I think you really need to understand how things were for Lee growing up, to understand just how much people appreci [...]

I absolutely love Lee Evans and I thought this books would be like some of the other comedian memoirs I have read I thought there would be an insight into their personal lives and history with the occasional joke and funny story For some reason though, this mostly bored me and it just couldn t keep my interest Sorry Lee, I love you, but this really wasn t what I expected.

When I first bought the book, I imagined it to be funny, which is was but I didn t expect it to be as good as it was I didn t think he went through as much as he did and I loved every thing about the book I read the book in 3 days I think, which shows how much I loved it I recommend it to anybody who loves Lee Evans.

Official rating 4.5 I enjoyed it about 99% of the time not sure why, i think some things seemed to drag on a bit But still, BRILLIANT, interesting and funny book Some things I did expect but others I didn t realise happened Great book in general. If you like Lee Evans or just want a good read, read this

I like most of the other reviewers, love Lee Evans, and I was really looking forward to his autobiography, but as it only goes up till when he got his first big break It was interesting and a good read, but I can only hope that he will continue writing the biographies, even if its a case of 3 or It is a good read, but I need of Lee Evans autobiography

    Aly Hughes
Hahaha love his bio Most biographies are rich people ranting about their sad childhoods but lee jokes and laughs about his sad childhood thats how he puts it

    Chris Bryson
This book isn t really what I expected, it only really covers up to his late teens That said, the story is good and I do recommend reading it.

This guy is the most talented yet modest celeb out there Parts of the book, describing his early life, are hilarious, but other parts are so very sad All told wonderfully well.

Gave me in insight into the funny man himself, and a little about his wife too and how he came to do what he does Very iformative and gave me many giggles, but wasnt as funny as I expected.

    Jack Hughes
I found this book laugh out loud hilarious from beginning to end Rarely does a book make me laugh so hard Very witty and touching in places, a very enjoyable read

    I MUST have this book

Lee Evans has totally outed himself in this book He s definitely no idiot Beautifully written and as heartwarming as it was heart wrenching, this is an amazing story I ve been a big fan ever since I first heard of him after he won the Perrier at the Edinburgh fridge but had no idea of the incredible journey he d been on to get there But what I loved most was that, unlike so many other celebrity autobiographies, Lee doesn t chart his rise to fame, he just tells his story from early childhood up u [...]

A great insight into the life of possibly the funniest comedian of his generation If you want a behind the scenes look at his life on tour then you won t get it from this book But if you want to know the man behind the act and how he came to be so successful then this is the book for you Lee has had to work hard all his life which makes his success even greater for him Despite this though, he still feels like a failure and is constantly trying to prove his worth Every show he does is his way of [...]

    Kieran Harris
This is probably my favourite ever autobiography It reads like a first person story rather than a mash up of memories and events and is written beautifully and in an impactful way It builds suspense which sounds silly for an autobiography about soneone that we know is successful but its amazing just how much he went through to finally realise his potential It is really inspirational, funny and completely honest and if that isn t what an autobiography should be then I know nothing Jon Snow Loved [...]

    C.J. Wright
Great insight into Lee Evans early life and shows the struggles he went through before becoming the household name he is today.

    Rosalyn Davey
Not at all what I expected After reading this book it is so easy to see why his comedy is so relatable

I ve long been a big fan of Lee Evans and at a recent show of his at the O2, I was excited to notice a board advertising his autobiography, with the legend Coming Soon Wasting no time the following morning, I wandered into Waterstone s to discover that Coming Soon translated as out the day before and at half price, the book didn t stay long on the shelf. The Life of Lee tells Lee Evans life story from growing up on a tough estate in Bristol, to his move to Essex and meeting with his wife, Heather [...]

I don t read many autobiographies as they don t usually make me want to continue reading them but this one was differentLee Evans is one of the most well know British comedians and definitely my favourite. When Christmas was coming up I asked for this as I love Lee Evans and I just had to find out how he came to where he is today but what I wasn t expecting the dark times that he had which there was plenty of them.Lee s life didn t even start off brilliant as he was born with a hole in his heart [...]

I have to admit that when I heard this book stopped before Lee Evans becomes famous I was dissapointed and my desire to read it dwindled slightly so I can understand if this is your attitude as well However, I would urge anyone who is a fan to read this book because it is fantastic The blurb on the inside of the book stated that the book is hillarious, I didn t find that at all but it really didn t take away from the enjoyment I got from the book So, not funny, in fact for a large portion of the [...]

Sorry Lee, your a very funny guy on stage and I am a huge fan, but this book is a bit of a let down The book goes through the story of his child hood living on a Council Estate with his family and going around the country to watch his dad perform stand up.Lee name drops a few famous people he has met and talk about meeting his wife and living in Scarbrough for a while The book is also interjected with a few funny lines and his comedic style which is why he has became the biggest selling comedian [...]

    Chris
There s no doubt that this was side achingly funny at times In fact on than one occasion I looked a complete simpleton to other people whilst I was laughing my head off on the train. It s also, at many points almost heartbreaking with what he and his now wife had to suffer through in the early months and years of their relationship. However I was disappointed that the book only covered his life up until he was 18 I would have liked to have read about his professional career as a stand up The boo [...]

some possible mild spoilers, you have been warned I ve been a big fan of Lee Evans for as long as I can remember so was keen to read this. The book gives you a lot of background on how the mumbling monkey boy we all know and love came to be and about how he struggled like a lot of people in the 80s with work and how he came to get into show business. As is often the case 99% of the time with this type of book it focuses on the story to the turning point where their career started or took off Which [...]
