There were several poems I liked and a few that gave me a visceral reaction Overall I liked the collection but give it a 3 because between the poems I loved there were many that I just couldn t connect with.

Loved this as a whole Too busy to write a full review, but just wanted to note here that I thought Mishipasinghan, Lumchipamudana, etc to be one of the best political poems I have ever read, if I can call it that Of course, it is completely free of an agenda or didacticism, which is why it is so successful I guess As in the other collections, these poems explore the tenuous delimitations of and intersection between skepticism and if not faith, the human longing for faith.

It is quite ambitious to attempt to capture the origins of heaven and earth in one slim book of poetry Admittedly, I m not an avid poetry reader, but while Heaven and Earth, A Cosmology did have some beautiful and clever phrases and ideas, it left me overall feeling indifferent.

This one didn t work for me, Goldbarth s style was too much without restraint, I suppose Try on The Gods Poems by Albert Goldbarth instead.

He s well learned, erudite, finds himself fascinating Sure wish I did But there are enough moments to keep me moving through and a few almost inevitably smaller and quieter poems that made the ride worthwhile.
