Not a bad read Introduced some good info but I felt it was a bit scattered and difficult to follow at times I almost wished, on occasion, for some of the charts and graphs that the author made a point of avoiding.

Rather outdated, but good for some basic understanding The economic situations being outdated I can forgive, but the notion that was unforgivable however was on page 260 where it talked about luring married women back in to the work force as though married women do not work It was published in 2003, not 1953

Nice introductory book to layman s economics though it s very much a taster of subjects you ll want to read further into The author writes well and often explains some fairly complex models and theories in a clear and concise way but it would have been nice to to have had some topics explicated vigorously or placed in a relatable context There s lots of name dropping of famous economists and periods of great economic interest so I d definitely recommend this book to someone looking to get into [...]

I started reading this a while and gave up because I didn t like all the food analogies at the start I picked it up 6 months later and persevered and found that he soon drops all the culinary metaphors after the first chapter and it turns into a really interesting overview of economics and its history.Would definitely recommend it as an introduction to economics.

Pretty good intro to economic thinking, including easy economic history or rather, history of economic thought Mostly from a British standpoint, and just touches on the recent crisis, given the publication date.
