The writing was experimental and for that I kept reading to the end It was a believable redneck back country hopeless circumstance story and it reminded me a little of Faulkner Definitely not a book to read side by side with something else like I did Glad I read it Wouldn t read it again.

There were parts if this book that were hard for me to read It depicts depressed town life and a particularly violent slice of it and yet the characters gave pathos It was a real lesson in compassion.

This was an incredibly ugly, depressing and dark story There was nothing bright to even it out The writing was interesting but not necessarily in a good way.
