Dug the story but after 2.5 books I d had enough Still finished it, just to see what happened and I love the tv show Character development was poor and I don t understand why everyone reverently referred to the villain as the Master and how they intuitively referred to the villain as it instead of normally human him or her. Also the ridiculous similes got old pretty fast I still can t get over comparing the earth in a vampire s coffin to cake mix WTF And I still want to know what the hell is a r [...]

Those of you looking for the good old fashioned vampires have come to the right place This trilogy is a scarefest rather than a lovefest No romance, just scary supernatural creatures No teenage woe, just fighting for survival This is back to basics, and any vampire fan needs to get in on this.

Breathtaking from its beginning A terrific vampire tale, where men give their best and their worse to strive and, perhaps, survive The end is simply like a full packed action movie, where you can actually see the fight Very good indeed

Loved the first one, which unfortunately ends in a way that requires sequels Second one nowhere near as good Third one, I d give one star to The conclusion is illogical and seems to negate everything that came before.

This definitely has a great beginning, and the rest of the story is good It s a little bit of a different twist to the usual vampire story, with a thorough explanation of what happens to the body when infected treating it as a virus Good story overall, though I don t know how much I d want to go back and read it again I give stars to books I want to buy and read again. For the first book, I haven t read either author I know del Toro from a few movies, but never read Hogan before, so I don t kno [...]

I read this book series as a 13 year old I think they did a great job at being unsettling I was a crazy paranoid kid who would stay on guard to fight off the worm infested vampires I didn t sleep much back in the day and hormones made me somewhat crazy I have fond memories LOL I began watching the series recently, I think the book is better It has much less plot holes than the TV series and your mind has better special effects , so I recommend reading the books first.Things I liked about the ser [...]

Good thriller, breathing new life into both the seemingly saturated field of global pandemics and vampire thrillers Instead of a zombie plague descending upon the world, what if vampirism were spread like a virus, which infects its host body and converts it into a grotesque organism, subject to one monstrous will These vampires also don t conform to most of the usual movie folklore The build up in the first volume is especially suspenseful The authors took pains to humanize their protagonists, a [...]

Interesting concept and storyline del Toro, I m assuming let down by writing that was mediocre at best This was a very uneven book its strength is in its pacing but when the pace flags the problems with the writing begin to show Hogan isn t very good at crafting well turned phrases but unfortunately he tries Like a dog climbing a tree, he doesn t get very far but the effort is painful The result is awful sentences like should the pestilence of their blood ever spread without control, their demis [...]

Read the whole series in a couple of sittings mostly reading through to see where this train wreck of a story would end up Kind of like eating junk food, it was so bad it somehow kept me enthralled. The characters are one dimensional, and vaguely offensive every character is a racial and or gender stereotype personified I felt particularly sorry for poor Nora who starts off promisingly as the 2 of a CDC office and gets swiftly demoted to babysitter, and an incompetent one at that The writing is p [...]

Really enjoyed the first novel, by the third I was just happy to be done reading High low high low high low, the good characters went bad, from strong and developing to Complaining problematic characters The bad characters got better but then plateaued Predictable in all the wrong places mostly because the book was drawn out.

While the first was easily a five star book, the sequels were largely disappointing The second was a generous 4 realistic 3 3.5 , and the final book was thoroughly dissatisfying Wish the first were self contained

You need to read the trilogy all at once It is extremely action packed and really destroys the notion of sexy vampires, unless you like them mute with atrophied genitalia filled with worms and 5 foot tongues.

    David Hellewell
TBH I was experiencing a lot of blearing between how much escapism was needed v how engaging is the tale.By the third book things are stretched Not sure I d recommend the series with my rating gradually dropping.

Vampirism grafted onto epidemiology and apocalyptic literature Not a bad effort but a little too much of the techno thriller about it Characters a little on the stock side and their relationships predictable The TV series is actually a little better, but both were enjoyable.

Gran historia, no es para todos, pero los amantes del sci fi lo amar n como una novedosa reinterpretaci n del mito vamp rico.Great story Not a book for everyone, but sci fi enthusiast will love it as an innovating re interpretation of the vampire mith.

A good story of vampires Not really, but if you want to read a really good action book, this is it Note I still think that Guillermo del Toro had an infestation of bedbugs when he thought the plot.
