"Morning" Brown Burmese
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce that my beloved Morning suddenly lost her struggle for life on Sunday 1st October, aged just 9 months. I had known from the start that we may not have her for long, but still the moment was too soon, and every day without her brings tears and emptiness.
God bless you my darling Morning . Nothing as special as you could ever stay on this mortal coil for long. My heart aches for you, and my only hope is that we will be reunited someday at the Bridge.
Rest In Peace, my baby.
Morning is a very special girl with a very special story...
Morning's Story
On 1st January 2006, Leanne and William graced us with a beautiful litter of kittens.
One particular kitten however caused us some concern, weighing in at just 50g (Burmese are normally around 70-90g at birth). We watched her very closely and were relieved when she doubled her birthweight at a week old, to 100g.
However by the time she was three weeks old, she had gained no further weight, and was not managing to feed well, as she was so tiny, and being pushed out by the other kittens. We had been supplementing her feeding, and our other mum Glory was helping out, but she did not seem to be thriving, despite being a very alert baby. Many times we thought she would not make it through the night.
(Morning aged 27 days)
We managed to keep her going to weaning time, and she very slowly began to gain weight. Despite all of her problems, she always had a look in those huge eyes that said that she had a love of life well beyond her tender weeks. She was always bright, happy and curious. Having been partially hand-reared, she was even more humanised than the average Burmese, and she wormed her way into our hearts from very early on.
(Morning aged 7 weeks and 3 days)
When she reached 9 weeks, although small, she was strong and active. So we took her along to the vet for her first vaccination. What a mistake that was!
Poor Morning! It so nearly killed her. From the day she was vaccinated she stopped eating completely for 2 1/2 full weeks. She survived only on subcuteaneous fluid injections, and the little syringe feeding I managed to get into her. By the time she was almost 12 weeks, her weight had plummeted down to 1 pound 1 ounce!
Then suddenly, as rapidly as she went down, she came back up, and decided she wanted to eat again. Boy did she make up for lost time!
As I write this, Morning is 8 months old today. She is still a little cat, but is just coming up to 5lbs now. Eats like a horse, and has the life and soul of ten Burmese!
Every moment of her life I have looked at her sweet face and wondered at the brightness and joy of life in her eyes. It made me confident that she would survive, she didnt have time to die, far too much to explore!
She has matured into a stunningly beautiful young cat, with the most loving, loyal and naughty nature imaginable! I cannot describe how truly unique she is, but if you met her you would understand.
Morning will stay with us, she is not just a part of the family, she is the most beloved little creature to walk the planet!
